We've been very fortunate that our friends at both From the Rookery End and Do Not Scratch Your Eyes have been extremely supportive of what we do.
Included in that support has been inviting us to come one and talk about our books, as well as the eras they cover on their excellent podcasts.
Below are links to three such podcasts, enjoy!
Do Not Scratch Your Eyes Golden Shots and Vision of Blue Special
Justin and Pete talk with Colin Payne and Geoff Wicken, the men behind The Treasury and YBR. The duo discuss Colin’s latest book, 'Golden Shots and Visions of Blue', which brings Watford history to life through the colorisation of black & white photographs from the 1950s and 60s, a crucial yet under-appreciated era for the football club and discuss the journey of the club through blue to gold.
Topics include the change of kit colour, what kind of hat in the 1960’s could be used to smuggle a flask into the ground, just how high was the Rookery terrace roof and which club chairman would steal bread rolls from his own club. Pete and Geoff both take turns in holding up books on screen which is exactly what an audio podcast is made for!
From the Rookery End Bonser Out! Special
Jon speaks with four members of the Watford Treasury team to find out more about the book and what life like as a Watford fan in the 1970s.
He talks to Geoff Wicken, his brother Olly, Richard White and Colin Payne to talk about the heroes, the ups and downs and exactly who was Bonser and why did everyone want him out?
From the Rookery End The Nineties: The Second Coming Special
The 1990s was a decade of tremendous change, both in football and in the real world. And the Watford Treasury have published their 3rd book all about being a Watford fan during the decade.
Jon speaks to Colin Payne and Nick Catley, who both edited the book, and Ian Grant one of the key contributors. In the 90s, Ian created bsad.org, the original online Watford FC resources (and still an amazing read) and Colin edited Watford fanzine Yellow Experience.
We reflect on the decade and what it was like to be a Watford fan during that time.
