The 1959/60 season was The Dawn of the Golden Age at Vicarage Road. Watford wore gold-coloured shirts for the first time, adopted “The Hornets” as a nickname, and won their first Football League promotion. Led by Cliff Holton, the team captured the local imagination as never before.
Fans have enjoyed many further successes, but 1959/60 was a turning point. The Dawn of the Golden Age celebrates that first golden season and tells the story of how it happened. It captures a magical time in the club’s history.
