We're really pleased to announce that in partnership with the Watford Observer we've a new book due out on the 20 November.
In the same format as our last three books, Champions! is a 154 page look at the 1968/69 promotions season.
Below is the back cover blurb, which pretty much describes the project perfectly:
In 1969 Watford Football Club achieved something that they had never done before: promotion to Division Two of the Football League. At the time this was chronicled by manager Ken Furphy in a Watford Observer publication, Portrait of Promotion. Over half a century later the Watford Treasury presents Champions! featuring much of Furphy’s book, as well as a host of images from the Watford Observer archives, as well as new material written by Watford Treasury writers and interviews with former players.
With all profits being donated to the Watford FC CSE Trust initiative, Golden Memories, Champions! is a fitting tribute to not just the late Ken Furphy, but also those 19 players who realised a dream.
Champions! will only be on sale directly from our website, in order to ensure that as much of the proceeds as possible go to the wonderful Golden Memories project, and will sell for £15.
This really is a beautiful book, and as you'd expect from us, it is very much built around being not just a great read but visually rich with both photos and memorabilia featuring heavily throughout.
If thinking about Christmas presents, or treating yourself, Champions! would make the ideal addition to the bookshelf of any Watford supporter.
