Hello folks,
With the holiday period upon us, and seasonal thoughts for some turning towards festive trips to Blackburn and Plymouth, all of us at the Watford Treasury would like to wish you the very best for Christmas and the New Year.
In the last year we’ve published our tenth volume of the Watford Treasury, the 39th and last issue of YBR! (or the 48th and last if one includes its predecessor, Home Tied) and lately our first hardback book, ‘Golden Shots and Visions of Blue’. We’ve had fun producing them all, and we hope you’ve enjoyed reading them. They’re all available here. We’ve got plenty of ideas in progress for 2024 too.
We’ve also refreshed the site by uploading a range of articles from our archive. If you’re short of holiday reading (once you’ve finished ‘Golden Shots and Visions of Blue’, obviously) look no further! As one of the articles reminds us, for many years football was played on 25 December, and Watford’s last-ever Christmas Day match was a 2-1 win against Ipswich Town in 1956, when the defeated visiting team manager was none other than Alf Ramsey. Whether you choose to throw that top fact into the conversation at Christmas Day lunch is up to you!
We’re very grateful for your support of our efforts, and look forward to producing more publications next year, which we hope you’ll enjoy.
With best wishes for Christmas and 2024 – and hoping for a 12-point holiday!
The Watford Treasury team
