Seven years ago today, v1 of The Watford Treasury came back from print, and the vision of eleven enthusiasts became a reality.
Residing on two pallets it was suddenly a daunting prospect, how on earth were we going to sell them all?
The online orders were dispatched in handwritten envelopes and hauled down the Post Office each day, and there were an awful lot of them (thank heavens now for Mailshot International!)
We set about selling them outside the ground (at that stage we had yet to get stocked in the Hornets Shop) something which was great in the summer, but football isn't played through the summer! Thankfully Sarah and the good folks at the Museum helped us out (as they have with so much of what we do) selling it to the good people of Watford when football wasn't on.
Just seeing on paper what we had worked so hard on was so rewarding, and something we are still proud of, I think v1 holds such a special place in all the Treasury team's hearts
Thankfully the Watford support, or those of them with a love of nostalgia and the past, also felt as positively about it, and the rest... like our subject matter, the rest is history!
